New Feature Spotlight - Awards and Points

The awards and points systems provide us with a means to recognize FireLeague members for their skill within the game and their participation within the community. Awards include virtual trophies, medals, ribbons etc. that represent in-game achievements such as a top 20 finish within a fantasy contest. These virtual trophies are prominently displayed on each user's profile page and are viewable by other FireLeague members.

In addition to virtual hardware, each award also has a point value. As you rack up awards you also accumulate FireLeague points. The points system is not only confined to in-game achievements, it's also used as a means to recognize community participation. Certain activites such as posting on the forum or simply logging into the FireLeague site result in points being awarded. The point system will also serve another purpose which is to reward members for their loyalty and participation in the FireLeague through gaming credits.

More on points and credits in a moment, first lets take a look at some of the awards you can expect to see...

	First place trophy awarded to the champion of the Fantasy Elite and Standard competitions.		Gold Laurel awarded for first place in an individual qualified Elite league.
	Second place trophy awarded to the runner-up of the Fantasy Elite and Standard competitions.		Cash insignia awarded to each owner that wins a cash prize in a Fantasy Elite or Standard competition.
	Third place trophy awarded to the second runner-up of the Fantasy Elite and Standard competitions.		Gold ribbon awarded to the short term contest champion..
	Gold medal awarded to the top 10 teams in a Fantasy Elite or Standard competition.		Silver ribbon awarded to the runner-up in a short term contest.
	Silver medal awarded to the top 20 teams in a Fantasy Elite or Standard competition.		Bronze ribbon awarded the second runner-up in a short term contest.
	Bronze medal awarded to the top 30 teams in a Fantasy Elite or Standard competition.

Awards will be granted retroactively starting with the 2010 season. The points system will run as an open BETA for the first several weeks of the season. During the open BETA period you may receive points for various activites or for the awards you've received for past achievements. The open BETA period will alow us to gather the necessary information to structure the point system in an effective manner. Once the open BETA period has been completed credits will be enabled. Points and credits will work very simply, for x number of points you earn, you will receive x credits. Site credits will serve as virtual currency in the game allowing you to buy entry into future contests (including our short term salary cap games) and trades. More details on credits and points will be announced once the open BETA period has ended.

NOTE: The official start to the 2011 season is currently scheduled for July 28th. At that time we will open up the gaming platform for use and enable the purchase of contest entry.
